Director

The Director of the Museum is Mr. Polykarpos V. Kominis

Polykarpos Kominis was born in Athens in 1994. He graduated with Honors from the Departments of Social Policy of Panteion University (2017) and History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with a specialisation in Archaeology and History of Art (2021). He holds a Master’s Degree with Distinction in Monuments Management from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2025). He worked as a member of the Permanent Delegation of the Hellenic Republic to UNESCO in Paris, on issues of world cultural and natural heritage (9/2016-1/2017), at the Directorate E1 of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issues of cultural diplomacy (3/2017-5/2017) and at the Numismatic Museum of Athens on the identification and recording of antiquities (6/2021-7/2021). He has also worked at the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopaidi on Mount Athos as the Archaeologist in charge of archaeological-rescue excavations (9/2023-12/2023), as well as at the Department of Parliamentary Archives of the Library of the Hellenic Parliament in the documentation of archival material and the organisation of educational and museological programs (2024). He completed his military service at the Historical Archives and Books Office of the Museum of the History of the Hellenic Air Force – MISPA (3/2019-3/2020). He has participated in archaeological-rescue excavations in ancient Tenea–Corinth (2018) and in Rafina (2021). He speaks English and French. Since October 2025, he has been the Director of the Museum of the City of Athens – Vouros–Eutaxias Foundation.
