Maria Sideri, painter and icon painter, through her new exhibition presented at the Athens City Museum, takes us on a journey through myths and legends that created the identity of the peoples from which they originate.

The great achievements of these figures are found in all areas of human society. Sometimes they represent learning, sometimes the sciences, charity, but also ideals such as glory, valor, self-denial. They are heroic representatives of their peoples, through whom their historical memory was saved and, by extension, the existence of future generations of those belonging to this nation is preserved.

Heroic figures, who were commemorated through the myths and legends of the peoples and are prominent examples of the historical course of a nation and who with their outstanding achievements have been and continue to be contemporary examples of pride in their fellow peoples so as to motivate future generations to new feats.
